6 String Banjos

The 6 String Banjo is known by many names including Guitar Banjo, Guitjo, Guitanjo, Banjar, Banjitar, Ganjo, Bantar as well as the obvious, Banjo Guitar. It is tuned like a guitar (E,A,D,G,B,E) and can be played by guitarists who want that distinctive banjo sound. It was ver popular in early jazz and swing music with the likes of Johnny St. Cyr, Django Reinhardt etc playing them and it's still popular with todays musicians with the likes of Taylor Swift, Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Satriani, Neil Young, Keith Urban etc all playing them.
