This is a rare beast indeed! A sort of bigger Les Paul-ish shape with a more florentine cutaway.
The Gretsch Atkins Axe (models 7685 and 7686) was made from around 1976 to 1981. The Atkins Axe was named after Chet Atkins who had a minor involvement the project. The Gretsch Atkins Axe was designed to appeal to the rock player with two DiMarzio humbucking pickups. The fingerboard markers are dice, which give you the fret number if you add up the numbers. The 7686 rosewood stain red. The model was not a commercial success was was discontinued around 1980/1981. The 7685 & 7686 models were reissued as the Gretsch Axe in the late 1990s, and again in 2002-2003 and 2008.
