Stockport Music Service, along with several partner organisations, offers a variety of ensemble opportunities for young children. These cover all ability ranges and young instrumentalists are encouraged to participate in ensemble playing whenever possible. Organisations
Local Stockport musical organisations have included:
Stockport Community Choir
Stockport Community Choir is a group of almost 30 people local to Stockport and its surrounding areas. Active since 2010 the choir is open to all ages and abilities.The choir has performed at a number of local events as well as holding their own performances.
The Gorton Philharmonic Orchestra
Founded in 1854, The Gorton Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the oldest in the North West and presents five concerts each year, two of which are at Gorton Monastery.

Stockport Symphony Orchestra
Stockport Symphony Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra of very high standard, non-professional musicians. Eight concerts are held per year in Stockport Town Hall with a wide orchestral and choral repertoire.

Werneth Concert Band
TheWerneth Concert Band was formed over 25 years ago by its present Musical Director and gives between six and eight concerts a year, at venues including the Royal Northern College of Music and The Forum Theatre, Romiley. The band has twice won the Gold award in the Community Band class of the Boosey& Hawkes National Concert Band Festival. The band accepts players of grade five standard and above.
