Clavia Nord at Promenade Music!
Clavia Nord at Promenade Music! Promenade Music proudly present Clavia Nord products! Nord C1, Stage 88, and Electro 2's in stock now!
Promenade Music now stock Nord keyboards, stage pianos and organs, made by Clavia.
Ever since Clavia was founded back in 1983 their goal has been to develop and manufacture high quality digital musical instruments which appeal to musicality and creativity. Their basic principle is to develop well defined instruments with long life cycles. They consider themselves 'instrument makers' rather than just an 'instrument manufacturer'. They don't include "bells and
whistles" often; but leave that to bell and whistle manufacturers. They focus on the essentials needed in a great instrument and deliver just that.
Being musicians, they design the kind of instruments they would like to use themselves. They put a lot of work into squeezing the most out of the technology available at the time for the development of a product. Take the Nord Lead 2 and drum4, for example. They've been on the market since 1997 and are more popular now than ever! As someone once put it: "quality never goes out of style".
When you buy a Clavia instrument you can rest assured that you have bought a top quality musical instrument that will last for a long time. All Clavia instruments are very roadworthy, yet lightweight. They construct all of their electronic instruments out of Swedish metal plate instead of plastics. This means you'll be able to take your Clavia instruments on the road for years and years.
Promenade Music now have the following models in stock:
C1 (2 manual Combo Organ)
"Now Clavia brings you the very best of those classic setups in a single package. The dual manual Nord C1 Combo Organ comprises three types of vintage organs: a classical tonewheel, Vox* Continental and Farfisa* Compact Deluxe, all carefully modeled from their originals. Also featuring our famous tube style overdrive, rotating speaker simulation, delay, reverb and 3-band EQ effects, the Nord C1 will tailor sounds for your body, mind and soul. UNDER THE HOOD The original mechanical tonewheel design as well as the Vox* and Farfisa* transistor designs result in diverse interactions between the different parts involved in the sound generating process. Modern sampling technology is able to play back the result of these interactions, but cannot duplicate the dynamic and random processes involved. Without these crucial steps represented, the response and feel of actually playing the instrument is inevitably lost. The solution is a real-time, DSP-based model describing the construction and interaction between each part involved. The Nord C1 Combo Organ offers three different organs ? all carefully modeled from vintage originals ? with the sonic result of each part of the tonewheel and transistor designs recreated faithfully. DIGITAL DRAWBARS & SWITCHES The fabulous sound aside, some areas of the original instruments? design were up for improvement. For instance, the ability to store your favorite sounds and quickly recall them as you play. This gets hard, as the original switches and drawbar levers physical position will not match the stored sound setting. The Nord C1?s digital drawbars features LED segments that instantly light up to show the current setting. The digital drawbars are just as fast as their physical counterparts, and setting up your sound from scratch ? even live ? is done in no time at all. 3RD SET OF DRAWBARS No two manual organ would be complete without the ability to play bass notes on a pedal board. The Nord C1 includes two additional bass register drawbars with selectable timbre from either vintage tonewheels or a synth bass. The bass can be controlled with any MIDI-enabled bass pedal board, or by splitting the lower manual. LIVING EFFECTS The built-in 3-band equalizer along with three types of speaker simulations and an extremely powerful overdrive offers you total tonal control of your sound. Add a feedback-delay with tap-tempo functionality, and several types of reverberation and you truly have an all-in-one effect section with stunning sound right out of the box. ROUND AND ROUND The rotary speaker simulation from Clavia?s award winning Nord Stage and Nord Electro series has been further improved, and now features an even more life-like experience. The Nord C1?s rotary speaker sim incorporates the acoustic variations that occur as a physical rotating speaker spreads the sound around in a room, providing the experience of truly moving the air around. HIGH LEVEL OUTPUTS Got volume? The Nord C1 has it in abundance. In addition to its standard line-level outputs the Nord C1 Organ features an 11-pin Leslie* connector. This allows you to transfer the sound directly to your speaker cabinet as well as to control the rotating speed from the Nord C1 Organs front panel. If your speaker cabinet does not feature the 11-pin Leslie* standard connector you can use the high level quarter inch audio output. AMPLIFY AND TESTIFY You can divide the stereo line output to separate tonewheel and transistor organ outputs, and connect them to separate amp set-ups. SUPERIOR RESPONSE An ultra low trigger-to-sound response time in the Nord C1 Combo Organ offers superior performance compared to any hardware and especially software products. Also, like the vintage original, the sound generation is started the very instant a key is pressed, not like conventional digital keyboard action, where the sound begins when the key hits bottom. MORE THAN VOLUME One type of input is often neglected, and yet it plays a vital part of your performance; the swell pedal. Without the proper response of the pedal you can easily lose focus when expression is called for. It is more than just volume control - the frequency response characteristics are also modeled. Further, a wide array of expression pedal manufacturers are supported to give you the perfect volume swell in every situation. ON THE ROAD Having three vintage organs in your studio is fun, but it?s even better when you can easily carry them with you to a gig. That is why it is so great that the Nord C1 Combo Organ is lightweight and truly portable. With the optional gig bag, you can carry the massive power of three vintage monster organs in one hand; weighing in at merely 15kg (33lb) you will save energy for your performance. APPEARANCE The Nord C1 Organ is not just about smart design and gorgeous sound; it is about stage presence. Its bright red panel and red varnished birch side panels give the organ a classic style with modern sensibility.

Stage 88 (88-note Portable Stage Piano) - also available in 73 and 76 note varieties.
"Featuring the best of Clavia’s award-winning technologies, the Nord Stage hosts three different instrument sections - Organ, Piano and Synth - plus an extensive effects section. You can use two sounds of each Section simultaneously - that’s two Organ manuals, two Synths, and two Pianos. These can be combined in any split or layered configuration you need for your performance. The Stage’s user interface is designed from a basic concept: All vital functions are represented on the front panel - easy to access, and never further away than a press of a single button. After more than 20 years of experience in designing instruments to be used by professional musicians, we know how important it is to make the technology completely transparent for the user. With the Nord Stage you only need to focus on your performance, which means never having to struggle with the technology. Our patented Pitch Stick and Modulation Wheel are included for maximum musical expression. A top-of-the-line weighted hammer-action keyboard makes you feel that the Stage’s sound is balancing at the tip of your fingers, completely under your control. Our efficient Morph Grouping technique is also included, allowing you to assign sound and effects parameters to one physical controller. All together, the Nord Stage is a musical, reliable, efficient, and roadworthy companion that delivers results, and provides the means to express your passion for playing. Choose from three models; 88, 76 or Compact. MODELSThe Nord Stage comes in three different models, 88, 76 and Compact. The 88 and 76 both feature weighted hammer-action keyboards while the compact is equipped with a semi-weighted organ (waterfall profile) keyboard. Other than keyboard type and the number of accessories available, all three models share the same set of features. MAIN FEATURES • Organ section with faithful emulations of 3 Classic models. • Piano section with 6 selectable categories. • Synth section generating Subtractive, FM and Wavetable synthesis. • External section making the Nord Stage serve as a master keyboard. • Effects section adding comprehensive effects to your performance. THE ORGAN SECTION The Organ Section offers three different organs. Of course, we included our famous B3 Organ model, giving you the most accurate and pleasing B3 next to the real thing. The B3 Organ offers many innovative solutions to mimic the typical B3 sound, such as: • A true organ architecture, based on digital models of 91 tonewheels, thus always giving full polyphony and overtones with natural warmness. • A complex digital model of the original chorus & vibrato scanner. • Modeling of the individual random contact bounces for each partial. • Emulation of the unique frequency characteristics of the built-in preamplifier, forming the “body” of the B3 sound. • Simulation of the energy stealth on the tonewheels that results in the typical compressed B3 sound. • Authentic tuning of the tone wheels according to the original B3 design. • True B3 swell-pedal characteristics. We also created carefully modeled emulations of two of the most famous transistor organs from the 1960s, the Vox Continental and the Farfisa Compact. “Draw buttons” and LED bar graphs have replaced the original mechanical drawbars. This gives you the advantage of always having the correct drawbar settings after changing preset. THE PIANO SECTION The Piano Section includes six main sound groups: Grand Pianos, Upright Pianos, Electric Grand, Electric Pianos, Wurlitzer, and Clavinet. Our commitment to authenticity is manifest in these pianos’ subtle nuances throughout the whole dynamic range. The source instruments are recorded at multiple velocity levels, providing the most accurate and expressive pianos ever made for a digital keyboard. The key-releases were also sampled, creating the real sound of dampers returning when the keys are lifted. The Acoustic Pianos are also recorded with sustain pedal down. When played with the sustain pedal, the Stage’s pianos recreate the sympathetic string resonance produced by acoustic piano strings. This adds to the authenticity of the piano sounds by giving them natural body. The Clavinet has an equalizer of its own, which mimics the original D6 tone tabs, and also includes the four Clavinet pickup selections. Pianos come in many varieties, and while a Steinway sounds great, it might not be the sound you need at the moment. The piano section is very flexible, allowing the user to replace any piano with other sounds from Clavias library of Piano samples free of charge. Use the Nord Stage’s USB port and sample-dump software to swap sounds quickly from your Mac or PC. THE SYNTH SECTION Don’t let the panel fool you; the Stage’s Synth Section is a wolf in sheep’s clothing – small, but with a big sound. After more than 10 years of designing synthesizers, we accepted a new challenge - designing a powerful synth with a few controls that would equal the quick and easy manipulation of the Organ and Piano sections. After all, why should you have to be an expert programmer to create lively and nuanced synth patches? Our response to that challenge is the Nord Stage’s “power mini synth”. The Synth was created on a multi-oscillator concept involving up to 9 oscillators per voice in different algorithms, all controlled from one button and one knob: • Classic Analog Synthesis with dual saw, hard sync, and pulse wave modulation. • Three-operator FM Synthesis with 32 different modulation frequencies. • Wavetable Synthesis with 32 waveforms, a first for a Clavia synth. With the Unison knob you can fatten your sound for lush pads, thick comps, and fiery leads. We’ve included a 12/24 dB LowPass Filter with resonance, an Amp envelope, a Modulation envelope, an LFO, and a two band equalizer. Three different Synth banks are provided – Synth, Pad, and Lead – for the creation and storage of your own patches, and each bank holds up to 100 sound programs. THE EXTERN SECTION The Nord Stage wouldn’t be a master keyboard if it couldn’t control external devices with ease. The External Section is designed solely for this task, so that any MIDI-connected gear gets seamlessly integrated with the Stage’s built-in instruments. Zones, splits and layers are handled exactly as if the external equipment was a part of the Stage itself. All settings are saved together with a Program so advanced setups can be immediately recalled in real-time during a performance. EFFECTS No sound is complete without the proper use of effects. In the Nord Stage we incorporated all the effects required to cover musicians’ needs. All of the three instrument sections - Organ, Piano and Synth - can individually be routed through the Stage’s built-in effect units. Turning the effects on and off, and controlling the routing is easily done by a touch of dedicated buttons, readily accessible at the bottom of each effects unit. UNIT ONE Here you can choose from Tremolo, two Wahs, an Auto-Wah, and an AutoPan. Use the AutoWah with a Clavinet for raw funk licks, create a psychedelic vibe with a Electric Piano on AutoPan, or give a Wurlitzer some body using the Tremolo. There is also a Ring Modulator on board, an effect used by many experimental and electronic musicians. UNIT TWO The two Phasers, two Flangers, and two Choruses are modeled from the classic analog stomp boxes that define popular music’s sound. These swirling Phasers, metallic Flangers, and thick Choruses that are used by uncompromising professionals everywhere are crystal clear and faithfully simulated on the Nord Stage. DELAY A delay unit has been included to create haunting echoes or slap back effects. The delay also supports a ping-pong mode, and the tempo is easily adjusted with the tap-tempo button. EQ/AMP SIMULATION This effect section combines a three-band equalizer with a sophisticated amplifier and speaker cabinet modeler. Classic amplifiers and speakers, are a crucial part to make vintage Electric piano sounds come alive. Clavia offers the famous sounds of tube amplifiers with a Twin Reverb, a Jazz Chorus 120 and a Wurlitzer speaker cabinet model. When no Amp Model is selected, the unit provides a neutral three-band EQ and a crunchy overdrive. ROTARY SPEAKER There is also a Rotary Speaker emulation based on the Leslie 122, which not only brings an essential character to a live organ performance, but can also be used with any of the electric or acoustic piano sounds or the synthesizer. MASTER EFFECTS Finally there is also a Compressor and a Reverb, which are placed at the end of the sound chain, helping to blend your sounds more naturally together. The Reverb unit has Hall, Stage and Room spaces to create different atmospheres for your sounds, while the simple Compressor helps you keep the overall mix tight and under control.

Electro 2 (61 and 73 Note)
"Great tools are simple ones, and the Electro2 is a great tool for musicians. By focusing on just a few features, we’ve avoided spreading ourselves thin with unnecessary technological gadgets. Sometimes the best tool isn’t a Swiss Army Knife. There are certain unique electric pianos that have been staples of music for decades, and they are more useful now than they’ve ever been. These instruments are unique, and they have a soul all their own. Remember that great organ sound from Procul Harum’s “Whiter Shade of Pale”? Or the soulful electric piano from Supertramp’s “The Logical Song”? What about the Clavinet from Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”? These classic instruments have inspired generations of players and songwriters, and they continue to gain more and more admirers every day. Now all these instrument have one thing in common: the Nord Electro2.
The Perfect Fit The Electro2 is available in three sizes: 73-key, 61-key, and a rack module. The Electro2 73 is the first choice of piano players who need a little more than the usual short range of standard stage pianos, but less weight. Coming in at around 22 lb., the 73 key version is modeled from the range of a classic electric piano, from which the Electro2 takes one of its extremely rich and accurate sounds. For the musician on the go, the Nord Electro2 61 is ideal. Sometimes stage space can be compromised, but not your standards of quality. Why trade sounds for portability? The Electro2 61 features the same waterfall keys and touch response as the Electro2 73, as well as all the same sounds and features. As players, you tend to collect a number of synths and stage pianos over the years. Sometimes all you need is that right sound, but prefer a familiar axe to play. For you, the Electro2 Rack offers all the elegant sounds of the Electro2 series in a rack-mountable module.
THE ORGAN SECTION The Electro2’s organ section is modeled from a digital simulation of the mechanical tonewheels of the classic Hammond B3. This is an innovative and unique method of tonewheel simulation is what gives the Electro2 its unique and accurate B3 sound. A complex digital model of the B3’s chorus and vibrato scanners, the individual random contact bounces for each partial, and the frequency characteristics of the built-in preamp form the body of the Electro2’s B3 sound. The Electro2 also faithfully simulates the energy stealth from the tonewheels, which results in the typically “compressed” sound that comes from playing many notes simultaneously. The virtual tonewheels have been accurately tuned according to the original B3 design. The Rotary Speaker simulation found in the effects section is just icing on the cake!
THE PIANO SECTION The piano section is comprised of five carefully sampled electric pianos - E-Piano Mark I, E-Piano Mark I Suitcase, Wurlitzer 200A, Mega Clavinet D6, and a custom Electric Grand Model G. The Mega Clavinet D6 sound offers all the filter and pickup variations of the original Clavinet D6. You have access to 60 + 4 different Clavinet D6 sounds, your favorite settings of which can be saved as user sounds. The Electro2 also includes a Malmsjoe Grand Piano, rounding out the necessary elements for the perfect stage piano The Electro2 features unique multisample playback capabilities, displaying subtle nuances throughout the whole dynamic range. Thanks to this carefully designed sound engine, even the key releases of the original sounds are emulated, completing the aura of authenticity that can only be heard in the Nord Electro2! Free Samples. Vintage stage pianos came in many varieties, and while a Clavinet might sound great, it’s not “the” sound you need. Clavia offers a number of various characters of Electro2 sounds downloadable for free. Use the Electro2’s USB port to swap internal sounds with those that can be saved on your computer. Accessories.
Ever dream of carrying your B3 or Wurlitzer stage piano in a handy backpack? Didn’t think so. While lightweight, the Electro2 is even easier to carry in the specially designed soft case with backpack straps.
