Tanglewood Overwater Contemporary 4 String Jazz Bass in Trans Blue Finish
A contemporary styled bass from Overwaters J series. The body is poplar with a flame maple top, giving a stunning looking top underneath the thru black finish. The maple also helps with the acoustic tone representing high frequencies well alongside the good bass response and grunt the poplar gives.
Pickups are custom made for this bass and represent the acoustic character of the bass well. Both pickups are wax potted with a wire mesh encapsulating the unit to eradicate noise.
Controls for the pickup come in the form of a three band EQ, overall volume and pan control to blend between pickups. The volume knob can be pulled to give a bright boost, useful for slapping or if you play by really digging into them strings. Attack increases noticeably with the bright setting pulled.
An incredibly impressive bass for the money, the Overwater series punches well above it's weight in terms of fit and finish as well as playability and tone.
