KAND? CAJÓNS – TUNED TO THE RHYTHM OF THE WORLD ARE AVAILABLE IN THE UK

Promenade Music is delighted to be the main dealer for Kandu Cajons in the UK. Kandu make high quality hand-crafted cajóns and thanks to their exceptional musical quality and outstanding looks, Kandu cajóns are played by leading percussionists the world over from  all genres: from flamenco, ethnic, world, jazz and fusion through to mainstream rock and pop. The first Kandu cajon was created for Abe Doron, the former drummer on the Riverdance World Tour and quickly found their way into the hands of many other top musicians incluing Martin Ditcham of The Rolling Stones, Sir Elton John, U2 fame who plays a Flame model and said "A fine thing it is too. Beautifully constructed, good bass end and a nice amount of crispness thanks to the two sets of snares. A fine instrument” and Kuljit Bhamra MBE who is a UK pioneer of Bhangra beat and an ethnic crossover composer, musician and producer who plays a Kandu Jungle Vibe Flame and said “I love it!! … above all – a nice sound, one where I can access the bassey timbre without having to crouch down too far”.

The Kandu Cajon Range
Each hand-made series (Thunder, Tempest, Flame and Jungle Vibe) has its own distinctive musical voice and each cajón is individually tuned for optimum performance. They come in a choice of three models: 'Basic', 'Varrytone' and 'Wild'.
– Basic models have a natural wood finish with non-slip feet.
– Varrytone' models have Kandu's built in unique Varrytone System (see below), natural wood finish and adjustable non-slip front feet.
– Wild models have the same specification as a Varrytone but they are available in a choice of nine colours.

It simply allows cajon players to subtly change the character of their cajon sound by moving an internal slider. It really is amazingly simple and very effective!

Kandu Thunder Series
Thunder is Kandu's Peruvian cajón model (With no snare) based on the original box drum made from shipping crates by African slaves in the port cities of South America. Thunder has what many have described as a 'drier' sound. Thunder cajóns are typical to the sound of traditional Latin music.

Kandu Tempest Series

Kandu Tempest cajon's feature a double width pair of parallel multi­wire snares that produce an exciting, highly defined separation between snare and bass. They are sensitive to the lightest touch making it perfect for a wide range of genres and is often the cajón of choice for players of the gentler sides of world and ethnic music.

About Kandu
Kand? Cajóns founders Shachar and Yaniv began almost five years ago and have since grown Kandu from a back room idea into a leading cajón maker. Today, Kandú cajóns are being played by leading percussionists all around the world. Kandu are based in Israel and the guys are non-political people who believe that peace, mutual respect and co-existence are the only ways forward for all human-kind. They live and work in the Galilee, a mixed Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Druze Arab area and try to promote peace at an inter-personal level and through their lives and music.
