Selmer
The Selmers were a highly gifted musical French family. Having both graduated from the Paris Conservatory of Music, Henri Selmer made clarinets in Paris, and Alexandre Selmer sold them in New York, where he had relocated to. They won a gold medal for their clarinets at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri, which helped them gain a great reputation. In the 1920's Selmer began making saxophones and they continue to be a name synonymous with high quality woodwind instruments today.
