Squier

Squier was originally a string maker whose name was bought by Fender. In 1982, Fender decided to use the brand name for it’s entry level instruments and amps. Fender needed to find a budget range to compete with the influx of cheap Fender copies coming in from Japan. Initially, Squiers were made in Japan (ironically), Mexico, the USA, but are now made in the far east. Although there are some Squier models in their own right, Squier is mostly concerned with making budget-priced versions of Fender classics like the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Precision, Jazz.
