Guild D52-NT USA Made Dreadnought, Made circa 1993

Serial Number: EK100424

D52 - Dreadnought.

Solid Spruce Top, Rosewood Back & Sides.

Made in Westerley, Rhode Island, USA.

Before Guild Guitars were bought out by Fender in the later 90's, they began first in Hoboken, New Jersey, then moved to Westerly, Rhode Island.

Although often seen as slightly lower league than Martin and Gibson, Guild have never-the-less had a well-deserved excellent reputation and have been used by the likes of Nick Drake, Tim Buckley, Richie Havens, John Renbourn, Pete Philipson, Eric Clapton and many more.

Guild guitars are notoriously hard to date sometimes, as a result of the changing way they used serial numbers over the years. Hans Moust (who literally wrote the book on Guild Guitars) reckons a D52NT with a similar serial number to this one dates from 1993, so we estiamte that this is from that period, maybe 94.

Confusingly, they also had a DV52 model, though for a while they still used D52 on the inner labels, and they were (usually) the exact same models.

Either way, great guitars!
