Simple Explanation Of The Yanagisawa Saxophone Range
Yanagisawa model codes comprise of letters and numbers (and then more letters for the colour code).
The letters at the beginning of the model number refers to the actual type.
A = Alto, T = Tenor, B = Baritone, S = Soprano Straight, SC = Soprano Curved.
The numbers refer to the specification.
901 = Brass body … Engraved bell. These saxes have great actions and the modern Yanagisawa sound.
902 = Bronze body with gold lacquer keys and engraved bell.These saxes have the same action as the 901 but the bronze gives a more 'vintage sax' tone.
991 = Brass body. Engraved bell and bow. Features an improved under slung octave mechanism, double connected table keys, (available with high G for some sopranos).
992 = Bronze body with gold lacquer keys. Engraved bell & bow. Basically a 902 with the better 991 action. The pads are also fitted with metal reflectors.
992PG = Bronze body that's plated with pink gold (mix of 80% gold and 20% silver). Lots of beautiful hand engraving on the body, crook and both inner and outer bell.
9930, 9933, 9937 = Solid Silver Series. Either all solid silver or a combination of silver with bronze or brass. Hand engraving over body, bell, bow, keys & crook. Some even have gold plated inner bells.

What Yanagisawa Say About Themselves And Their History
– In 1954, the first Tenor saxophone (T-3) was produced.
– In December 1956, the first Alto saxophone (A-3) was made, then in June 1965 Alto A-5 was made.
– Then the Tenor T-5 was announced in February 1966.
– Ever since, we are considered as distinguished manufacturers of saxophone.
– As a result of research and development manufacturing, in December 1966, the Low A key Baritone saxophone (B-6) was produced.
– In September, 1968 the Soprano saxophone (S-6) was released and in December, for the first time in the country, the much awaited Sopranino saxophone (SN-600) with High E key were produced.
– One principle of musical instrument manufacturing is that the musical instrument should have the ability to produce wide range of music.
– Also it should display the prototype of a professional model with the new structural design.
– In 1977 musical instrument fair, Soprano, Alto, Tenor saxophones etc having the honor of "Yanagisawa With Technology" were announced.
– From Sopranino to Baritone, 5 to 15 types of musical instruments were made.
– Excellent musical instruments were produced by following the motto "It starts in hands, passes through machines and ends up in hands" by excellent engineers using exclusive, modernized machines.
– The products are exported to places like North Europe and other European countries in addition to America, Canada, Central and South America and Australia.
– Furthermore, in July 1978, Erimona series (model No.800) was produced.
– In continuation, in May 1979, the country's first curved Soprano was produced.
– Consequently, in 1985 the worlds first detachable neck Soprano (S-800) was introduced.
– In 1990 the Soprano of 900 and 990 series, in January 1992 Baritone 9930, the first national silver sonic body models and from Soprano to Baritone 4 types were announced.
– The beauty of the tone made from the silver pipe was very appealing.
– In the same year October, Alto and Tenor of 900 and 990 series and in February a one step ahead function preparation, the developed easy usage 900µ, 990µ series was modified.
– And in 1999, Alto saxophone A-9937 with entire silver make was announced.
– Without any stoppage to the progress, increasingly good saxophones are seeked.
