Vocoders

Vocoders are one of the most popular and enduring voice-changing effects ever. A similar effect was first developed back in 1939 (!) by Bell Labs (the Voder) and vocoders were used by Roosevelt and Churchill during WWII to avoid being intercepted. By the 1970's, Vocoders began to be used and manufactured by the likes of Korg, Roland and others. Other voice-changing devices are often confused with the vocoder (such as the TalkBox or AutoTune).
