Flamenco Guitars

The flamenco guitar is quite similar to the classical guitar but the construction is lighter – with a thinner top and less internal bracing – to produce a bright percussive sound. The woods used are often a combination of spruce for the top and cypress or sycamore wood for the body. Some flamenco players want a golpeador plastic tap plate fitted, and we can do this if requested. The flamenco guitar is generally tuned the same as the classical (EADGBE) and typically has less sustain than a classical which is required for the fast rhythmic style and the florid runs of flamenco music. Some jazz and latin players prefer the flamenco sound [to the classical] and it works well for Renaissance and Baroque music too To Contact Us – Call 01524 410202 or email [email protected] for more information … Go Back to the Classical Guitar Department Home Page.
