Kawai was founded in Hamamatsu, Japan in 1927 by Koichi Kawai (1886-1955) and it is now a fourth generation piano business having been previously run by Koichi’s son (Shigeru Kawai), his grandson [Hirotaka Kawai], and now by his great-grandson [Kentaro Kawai].
