David Wood is an award-winning musician who is the founder, chief executive officer, and sole-shareholder of Promenade Music.
David holds the post-nominal letters HonsDMus HonsFDip FRSA DipMusTh AMusLCM and is passionate supporter of music and the arts. He is an Honorary Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University [visit Dr David Wood for more info] and after receiving a Doctor of Music honoris causa degree from them, he became only their 11th recipient of the award since the formation of the university in 1964 and joined previous recipients, who include: Dame Janet Baker, Sir Arthur Bliss, Sir Michael Tippett, Sir John Manduell, and Sir Edward Downes.
David established Promenade Music in 1989 and it is now a successful award-winning independent musical instrument and equipment retail business with “one of the largest and best stocked music shops in the North of England”. The shop is highly respected by customers and has supplied musicians who play / played in the bands: Mint Royale, Blur, Guns N’ Rose, Jamiroquai, Simply Red; Sam Fender; Big Country and Oasis.
Operating from circa 14,000sq.ft of commercial property that David owns in Morecambe, the business is a past winner of the highly prestigious Lancaster City Council’s Award for Business of the Year and offers stock from many of the World’s greatest musical instrument and equipment manufacturers.
As well as being the founder of Promenade Music, David is also the co-founder, director and thirty-percent shareholder of Faith & Hope Records, a music company he established with Neil Claxton in 1997.
