The baritone saxophone, often called "bari sax", is one of the largest and lowest pitched members of the saxophone family. It's a transposing instrument in the key of Eb. Modern baritones with a low A key and high F# key have a range from C2 to A4 and are therefore pitched one octave lower than the alto saxophone, and is a crucial element in big band music.
