It’s not uncommon for electric guitar players to collect an arsenal of effects pedals over the years. But what about bass players? There are of course several bass players of note that have used pedals over the years (Bootsy Collins and Jaco Pastorius immediately spring to mind), but overall, bass players are less forthcoming with the use of effects.
One reason for this is that there’s been less choice, and players have ended up using effects that are really intended for guitars, and that’s meant losing vital frequencies. Another is that the bass effects that have been on the market have often been expensive boutique pedals with off-putting price tags and often slightly outlandish sounds that aren’t the sort of thing you’d use much.
Fender have come to the rescue with a range of affordable pedals in a compact form-factor and with specific, highly useable effect, such as Compression, Overdrive, Delay, Reverb, Delay and Fuzz.
They’ve just been released and into stock now, so far we’ve got three in stock at time of writing.
