The Krivo Magnetic pickup for upright bass is rapidly becoming the world-standard magnetic pickup for upright basses. It is fully adjustable – for perfect string balance – and mounts easily with included fastener. The incorporation of Krivo's proprietary Optimized Microphonics™ technique results in a fantastic "acoustic" sound.

The Krivo will fit on virtually any acoustic traditional upright bass that's fitted with steel-core strings (magnetic pickups need steel-core strings to work properly). The Krivo also excels on electric upright basses (EUBs) too. The Krivo is the perfect choice for tone, clarity, and presence; delivering the authentic sound of the acoustic bass when you need to play in an amplified ensemble setting. It holds up perfectly in both low volume rehearsals and high energy performances; and the compact design makes it especially easy to add to your setup, and it can be attached and removed very efficiently.

“The Krivo bass pickup delivers a warm, powerful, focused and well defined sound. It has a clarity not found in most piezo pickups especially in the middle and upper registers and has none of the upper-mid brashness that many piezos do. The individual pole pieces allow you to get a balanced sound out of any instrument with little effort. It has been especially useful when touring and playing venue or backline provided basses. I just bring extra mounting tape (which is available in most hardware stores) put the pickup on and instantly have a good sound out of just about any bass (as long as it has steel strings!). Kudos to Jason for coming up with such a fine product!”
[Quote by John Belzaguy… Bassist with Arturo Sandoval,  Natalie Cole, Eddie Daniels, etc]

Great for slap-style, rock, rockabilly, Latin music and modern Jazz. These pickups have been used on tour by many professional touring bands (e.g., Vagabond Opera, Devotchka, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Matadors).

Here is a fantastic review of the Krivo bass pickup by Dr. Adam Booker: Assistant Professor of Applied Bass and Jazz Studies University of Minnesota Duluth.

(Note: as with all magnetic pickups YOU MUST USE METAL CORE STRINGS—gut or nylon core will not work, (not enough iron content for the magnet to sense).

The Krivo bass model also easily achieves perfect string-to-string balance by incorporating adjustable pole pieces. The individual volume of each string is easily adjusted via the allen head set screw type pole pieces (a hex wrench is included).  ⇒

Reasons to buy a Krivo Pickup
– He uses the best quality components like AGW 44 magnet wire, genuine Switchcraft connectors and audiophile grade Mogami cable.
– He uses neodymium magnets and his proprietary Optimized Microphonics technique.
– Each design is painstakingly matched and designed to compliment its particular instrument.
– Because neodymium magnets are very strong, he is able to create very small and thin coils (great for fitting on guitars with low actions).
– They retain a high output and top-end clarity and give a very clean and tight bass response.
– They have a very natural acoustic tone.
– You can achieve a high volume before feedback.
– He does NOT “pot” his pickups (except for the Micro-Stealth PAF) in wax or epoxy like the makers of most mass-produced pickups.
– He allows a controlled degree of microphonics which allows the pickup to sense vibrations from the top and fingerboard of the instrument as well as from the strings.
– For a handmade pickup, they're sold at a great price.
