Music Theory Lessons have been taking place on the first floor of the Promenade Music building since 1985.

Sandie Barker (Call 07905 846383)
Sandie studied for her BMus (Hons) in Music at Lancaster University; PGCE Secondary School Teaching qualification at Bretton Hall; and holds an ARCM diploma. Sandie taught music at Morecambe High School and went on to work as a freelance teacher and pianist, building vibrant Music Departments and working as an organist and choir director. Sandie is an enormously experienced and versatile musician / teacher, who welcomes working inclusively with students of all ages and abilities. After spending many happy years teaching here in the 1990’s, it’s great that she re-joined us in 2017.

Rachel Lucy Moore (Call 07855 257859)
Rachel Lucy Moore is a British cello teacher, double bass teacher, and chamber music specialist. After completing her postgrad studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, Rachel Lucy began teaching at the RNCM at the age of 22, and still teaches there today as a tutor at the RNCM’s award-winning ‘Young Strings’, and at the ‘Junior RNCM’. Rachel Lucy also teaches cello privately; teaches at an independent school (Bolton School); is conductor and orchestral manager at the Bryanston International Summer School; a tutor at the Westmorland Youth Orchestra, and director of the Westmorland Youth Orchestra Training Strings. In the past, Rachel Lucy co-directed the Lake Districy Summer Music (also known as LDSM) Junior Strings Venture , and was a visiting teacher at Chethams School of Music in Manchester.

Kathryn Baines (Call 07974 505169)
Katherine gained her place at London’s Trinity College of Music in 1985 and studied Piano and Cello. She gained her LTCL in 1987, and after leaving Trinity, embarked on her professional music career playing as a freelancer and regularly performing recitals and concerts. Always looking to improve her skills Katherine completed the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music CT ABRSM Teaching Certificate in 1999 which is recognised and highly regarded by educational establishments worldwide. Before joining us in 2005, Katherine spent eleven years teaching Piano and Cello in Hertfordshire.
