Promenade Music are delighted to once again be dealers for Guild Guitars.
Starting in Manhatten in 1952, and quickly moved to Hoboken, New Jersey, Guild quickly became established as a maker of great archtop eletric guitars and then folk guitars, with their 12-string guitars particularly gaining a solid reputation.
In 1966, Guild moved to Westerley, Rhode Island, whose output's reputation remained high. Tim Buckley and Richie Havens (famously at Woodstock) and Eric Clapton used Guild 12-strings.
Since 1995, Guild have had a few changes on the business side, but the output has always been of a high standard.
Muddy Waters and Zal Yanovsky (Lovin Spoonful) used the electric Thunderbird, Nick Drake is holding a Guild M20 on the cover of 'Bryter Layter'.
A Guild Starfire has pride of place on the Kinks album 'Kinks Kontroversy', and was played by Jerry Garcia in the Grateful Dead and members of Buffalo Springfield.
The SG-like S100 was used by Soundgarden's Kim Thayil. More recently, Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys has been using the T-Bird.
Other famous Guild users include Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Bob Marley, Brian May, Slash, Tom Petty and many more – you might be surprised just how many big name players have used Guild guitars over the last 70 years!
