Recall Notice: Yamaha PA-300C

Yamaha Music Europe GmbH have written to inform us that some of their AC adapters PA-300C have a defect as noted below and they’re initiating a recall of the defective adaptors to ensure the safety of consumers. This recall is limited to PA-300C AC power adaptors that were manufactured between July 2010 and May 2012 with the words “EFFICIENCY LEVEL ‘V’” and the serial number range can be seen on the attached image. Only the PA-300C AC Power Adaptor is being recalled. The Adaptor was sold with certain digital instruments and musical products listed in the image. The Adaptor was not, on its own, sold at retail. In addition, the adaptor was built-in to certain YAMAHA CLAVINOVA CLP series and CVP series digital pianos.

HAZARD! For adaptors manufactured from July 2010 through May 2012, as more specifically identified in the image, the resin in the DC plug contained red phosphorus as a flame retardant. A manufacturing defect in some of the products manufactured during this time-period caused air bubbles to form during the resin molding process. If moisture penetrates the air bubbles and reacts with the red phosphorus-based flame retardant, a short circuit in the DC plug electrode may occur, resulting in abnormal heat generation and melting of the DC plug, and, in rare instances, cause a fire.

If you have one of these adapters, please stop using it immediately and fill in the recall and replacement application form that’s available on the Yamaha website at: https://europe.yamaha.com/…/pa-300c-adaptor-recall.html
