Rickenbacker have only ever been made in California, USA.

Rickenbacker guitars are perhaps most famous for their semi-hollow bodied electric guitars such as the 330 and 360 (both 6 and 12-string models) as used in the folk-rock era by bands like the Jefferson Airplane, the Byrds, Moby Grape etc and Liverpool-inspired Beat groups like the Beatles and the Searchers as well becoming a big mod guitar favourite thanks to Pete Townsend (the Who), Paul Weller, Oasis and many others. Various Rickenbacker guitars have also been played by the likes of Tom Petty, Carl Wilson (the Beach Boys) U2 and Radiohead. The Rickenbacker 325 was used by John Lennon and Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles.

The solid-bodied Rickenbacker 620 is another classic USA-made model and has been used by Mike Campbell (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), Steven Van Zandt (Bruce Springsteen) and Susanna Hoffs – she loves Rickenbackers! Another player, Fred ‘Sonic’ Smith from the MC5 is sometimes thought to a 620 player, but his model was actually a modded 450, though looks very similar.

The Model 620 features the famous ‘Cresting Wave’ Maple cutaway body based on an innovative design from the 1950’s.

A Rosewood fingerboard is punctuated beautifully with triangular pearloid inlay markers, while the maple double bound neck and body are solid through and through.

The 620 is electronically engineered to the exacting standards of the 300 series, complete with Rickenbacker’s own high gain pickups and stereo output.

Successfully retaining the balance from the original specifications, the 620 is another fine example of Rickenbacker quality workmanship.
