The YT2030MS Metallophone’s tone bars are made of the same aluminum alloy that is used in Yamaha celestas. The tone bars produce a soft, warm tone that blends beautifully with other instruments in ensembles.
The gas spring height adjustment frame system previously used only in our high-end keyboard percussion instruments is now provided in our educational models as well, allowing students of any height and physique to play in ideal posture with simple operation. The frame has vibration-damping rubber joints below side frame which makes the height adjustment easier by eliminating the need to maintain instrument level while adjusting height. The vibration-damping rubber also reduces floor noise that can occur when the instrument is played.
It has a damper belt for the damper and damper pedal [not the old style metal rod system that could be easily bent if someone attempted to adjust the instrument’s height without loosening the rod’s wing bolts]. The belt eliminates this problem as wing bolts have been replaced by a buckle which also means that slippage can’t occur when the damper pedal is pressed.
This model also has a parallel action damper which moves perpendicularly to the natural and accidental tone bars and contacts them evenly for improved damping. The new mechanism is also safer, because parts that could catch fingers have been eliminated. Finally, the diameter of the castors has been increased to 76mm for notably improved mobility.
