Steph Edwards (freelance keyboard teacher)
Contact details for Steph are on the Promenade Music School Page.
A performance major graduate in organ and harpsichord from Huddersfield Polytechnic School of Music, Steph gained her BA(Hons) Music degree in 1987 and went straight into her dream job in Music Administration at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
After a couple of exciting years in London, Steph returned home to Lancaster where she gained her Primary PGCE (Music) from St Martin’s College and after 27 years of classroom experience, she is transferring her skills to teach music creatively on a one-to-one basis.
Enjoying making learning connections for her pupils, Steph will give you a great understanding of harmony, rhythm and melody. You will be encouraged to play by ear, try your hand at composing your own tunes (if you want) and perform at your level to friends and family. Steph’s teaching approach makes written music accessible to all pupils.
Playing the organ for church services for longer than she cares to remember and always looking to improve her own skills, Steph has recently completed the Foundation Conductors’ Course with Sing for Pleasure. She enjoys sharing the training of Lancaster Priory Children’s Choir on Friday afternoons and sings with Lancaster Millennium Choir on Monday evenings. You will find Steph at Lancaster Priory every weekend where she enjoys her role of part-time Verger and Concert Administrator.
